What Should We Wear?
When choosing outfits for your session, think smart-casual and comfortable. Plain, timeless clothing works best for creating soft, beautiful timeless images. Avoid bold patterns, large text, or characters, as these can distract from the natural beauty of your family and may not photograph as well.
For group photos, coordinating colors and styles will help create a cohesive look. Rather than everyone wearing identical outfits, try to select colours that complement each other—this helps bring your family together while keeping the individual personalities shining through.
What Happens During the Shoot?
I understand that being in front of the camera can feel a little awkward, but don’t worry—my approach is all about keeping things relaxed and natural. While we can definitely include some posed or formal shots, the magic often happens in the candid moments, so I’ll encourage you to relax and enjoy the experience.
For more relaxed, playful shots with little ones, it’s helpful to focus on activities they enjoy—whether it’s playing peekaboo, throwing leaves, or going on a little adventure (searching for the Gruffalo is always a hit!). The goal is to keep them distracted from the camera, so we can capture those genuine, joyful moments.
For extended family sessions, it can be useful to decide beforehand which smaller groupings you’d like to focus on. This helps keep things flowing smoothly and ensures we get all the photos you envision.
What Happens if it Rains?
I always keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your session. If rain looks likely, I’ll be in touch to discuss options. While a little drizzle can create soft, dreamy light, heavy rain will lead us to reschedule. Don’t worry—you won’t lose your deposit if we need to make a change.
When Do We Pay?
To secure your session, a £50 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. After that, you won’t need to make any additional payments until you’ve had the chance to view your gallery and choose the collection that’s right for you.
Do You Photograph Larger Families?
Absolutely! Grandparents and extended family members are always welcome. I love capturing the connections that span generations, and larger family groups can make for truly heartwarming images.
